I was so excited about my grocery store trip today. I had coupons lined up for all of my husband's favorite foods, and I was in the zone for savings. I walked into the store – and realized I left my coupon organizer in my desk at work. My brain has been a bit on the scrambled side lately with holiday plans, an increase in work responsibilities, and the excitement of launching “Fake It Till You Make It”. I was honestly not terribly surprised to find myself missing my beloved coupon book. Still though, I felt a bit hypocritical spending more than I had budgeted on groceries, especially since I'm trying to pass on lots of money-saving advice to my readers. This was a good reminder for me that none of us are perfect, and that we wont win EVERY trip to the store. But saving is good, even if we aren't always as consistent as we would like. Eventually there will come a time when you need toilet paper or some other staple. The only store open will charge a sky-high price per roll, and you will have to break down and buy it. Go ahead, forgive yourself. It's part of a healthy approach to a frugal life.
My little shopping mishap reminded me just how high grocery prices can be, and so I wanted to share a giveaway with my wonderful readers to help you out a little. I am giving away a $25.00 Giant Eagle gift card to one lucky “Fake It Till You Make It” reader.
