When I published my most recent post about extending your theater budget, I knew there was a fourth tip I was forgetting. On my commute home tonight it hit me! Goldstar.com! I’m really into all of the reputable daily deal sites like Groupon and Living Social. Goldstar is another daily deal site – but it’s a bit different. It focuses solely on tickets to theater, sporting events, concerts, and comedy – things that can be really expensive. The site offers deals in several bigger markets, so even if you live in a small area, you may be able to sign up for deals in your closest bigger city, especially if you make trips to see regional or national performances. I live in the DC area, and all the biggest shows that I’ve been wanting to see have had great deals posted on the site. If you are a theater junkie like me, I’d recommend signing up!
For me, getting to be a theater goer is one of those life pleasures that can make you feel rich in lean times. When I was growing up, we didn’t have much money, but my grandma w ran the box office in our little community theater. I got to pass out programs and go to all of the performances for free (even the ones that were boring for a six year old), and it was wonderful! This isn’t the only way that my grandma made me feel like the most fortunate girl in the world, and you’ll definitely hear more later about how she was the original inspiration for “Fake It Till You Make It”.
In other news, I’m pleased to welcome all of the new “Fake It Till You Make It” followers. Please feel free to jump in with any career or money related questions or thoughts!
